Yan obtained her PhD in Finance from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading in 2015. She has an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and an MA (Hon) in Business Studies and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh. During her doctoral study, she taught a number of graduate and undergraduate level courses as teaching assistant including “Corporate Finance”, “Corporate Governance”, “Mergers and Acquisitions”, and “Introduction to Financial Markets”. Her paper “Corporate Governance, Bank Mergers and Executive Compensation” with Carol Padgett and Simone Varotto (2016) is published by the International Journal of Finance and Economics. 

Yan currently works in the National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors (NAFMII) in China, responsible for developing and delivering a number of executive training topics including “Overview of China’s Bond Market”, “Financial Market Ethics”, “Financial Risk Management” and “Financial Reporting and Valuation Modelling”. She also is responsible for organizing training courses (5 days to 2 weeks) for market practitioners both domestically in China and abroad.  Responsibilities here include designing the training contents, recruiting students, booking trainers, translating for English speaking trainers and all logistical issues.

Prior to Joining NAFMII, Yan worked for ICMA Executive Education in developing the Corporate Finance Consultant (CFC) Certificate in China and maintaining and developing relationships with key Chinese institutions.
